The GT5 Challenge car is owned and run by SVG. The Ginettas are owned by their drivers and SVG support them in a number of ways. For some we store, transport and run the cars at test days and race days. For others we support them at the venues with setup and repairs.

SVG can tailor Ginetta race support packages to suit individual requirements and budgets for full or part race seasons. If you would like to join an experienced race team in 2017 contact Andy Johnson 01342 717282.

SVG Test at Lydden with JSCC Car

SVG Motor Sport attended a test day at Lydden Hill for Charlotte Birch in her new Citroen Saxo VTR. Charlotte is competing in the Junior Saloon Car Championship (JSCC) in 2017. A lot of progress was made during the day with driver coaching from Andy Johnson and support from the SVG Motor Sport team.

Early in the day while the weather was good Charlottes lap times consistently dropped as her confidence grew. The afternoon sessions saw rain and mist along with a drop in temperature and Charlotte demostrated a natural flair for driving in these conditions. Andy reported that Charlotte was a fast learner, quickly getting to grips with braking points and racing lines.

What a fantastic day today. Charlotte Birch was an absolute star right from the off, considering this was her first time in the car and the first time at Lydden Hill. She improved all day long an I can’t wait for the next test session. I’m certain we have a star in the making.

Ford RS1600 Restoration

MkII Escort Restoration

MkII Escort Restoration 800 533 Steve SVG

SVG Motor Sport will soon start the restoration of this MkII Ford Escort for one of our customers. The car has recently arrived at our workshop in West Sussex having just been imported from South Africa. It is a genuine RS1600 and completely standard and unaltered and in remarkably good condition.

This will be a total restoration begining with the car being completely dismantled before the shell is stripped to bare metal. The shell looks to be in very good shape but you can never be sure what the stripping may reveal of its past life and any repairs it may have had over the last 40 years.

When the car is back in the workshop our client then has a big decision to make. Will this restoration keep this a rare road car or will it become a race car.

SVG Motorsport is pleased to announce that they will be supporting Charlotte Birch in her Junior Saloon Car Championship 2017 (JSCC) campaign.

The Gatwick-based driver will use the rest of this year for testing and preparation for next season in her Citroen Saxo VTR decorated in SVG Motor Sport livery.

Proud of her new partnership with SVG Motor Sport, the young racer is excited about what the future has to hold and while her short-term ambition is to win the 2017 JSCC title, she plans on following on to the Michelin Ginetta GT5 Challenge series and who knows where it could lead… perhaps British GT! That is her ultimate ambition!

SVG Motorsport Managing Director, Andy Johnson, said “SVG was approached by Charlotte’s dad, Russell, so I took a good look at the Junior Saloon Car Championship (JSCC) and found I liked the series’ individual style and the idea of having young people competing in full blown race cars. I also felt that Charlotte had the fearless determination to succeed. I am really looking forward to seeing how Charlotte performs and grows within the SVG family for the remainder of 2016 and beyond”.

We expect big things from the young racer!

Mohamed Elshimy Returns to SVG Motor Sport

Mohamed Elshimy Returns to SVG Motor Sport 825 390 Steve SVG

After a short break, Mohamed Elshimy will return to Ginetta Racing with SVG Motor Sport at Spa-Francorchamps in July. Mohamed had a successful inaugural season in the Ginetta last year with a particularly impressive outing at Spa.

After racing for eight years in Dubai, Mohamed was a regular driver with SVG having joined the team in 2013. Looking to start his racing career in the UK he initially competed in classic touring car racing. He switched to the SVG Ginetta G40 last year to compete in the GT5 Challenge, finishing the season just outside the top ten. The highlight of the season was the trip to Spa with 4th and 5th placed finishes.

Delighted to be back with SVG for the trip to Spa, the aim for Mohamed is to go one better than last year and achieve a podium finish. First, he must not only reacclimatise himself with the car after several months out but also learn how the car handles on different tyres from last season.

The Spa event is on 8th – 9th July, updates from the weekend will be posted on this site and on Facebook.
