A new car for an old client. This impressive looking BMW was originally built and used as a track day car, hence it has two seats. The car was bought by a long term client of SVG Motor Sport and we have been tasked with the job of preparing the car so that it is eligible to compete as a Classic Thunder Saloon car with the Classic Touring Car Racing Club (CTCRC).
SVG Motor Sport are thrilled to have Egyptian racing driver Mohamed Elshimy back with us for a full-season in the Protyre Motorsport Ginetta GT5 Challenge.
The 20-year-old Automotive Engineering student made a one-off appearance last year at Spa Francorchamps. He returns this season with the aim of consistently being on the podium.
Mohamed said, “I’m really looking forward to another year with SVG Motor Sport, taking on a championship as competitive as the GT5 Challenge!”
The Ginetta GT5 Challenge is part of the prestigious British GT and Touring Car weekends. It is suitable for all ages and levels of race experience and is widely known for being the breeding ground for future professional drivers. The championship runs at seven meetings, five of which are part of the British GT package and the other two as part of the British Touring Car Championship events.

Historic Endurance Rally
SVG Motor Sport director Andy Johnson will be competing in his 1967 Toyota Corona on the Isle of Mann in March. It is rare that Andy finds time to compete himself these days as he is testing or at race meetings with clients most weekends. He has competed in the Toyota on the Pirelli Classic Marathon in the past and for this event, he will be partnered by experienced navigator Tony Jolly.
The Three Legs of Mann is a historic endurance rally organised by Hero Events. The Isle of Mann is the perfect place for rallying, with six hundred miles of roads shoehorned into an island of only 33 miles long by 13 miles wide. 40% of the Island is uninhabited.
The event uses map-based navigation with pre-marked maps, issued one hour before the start of each leg. The event includes night time driving and regularity sections.
More news of our event preparations and the event itself will be posted here. To find out more about our car preparation services please click here.
SVG Motor Sport attended a test day at Lydden Hill for Charlotte Birch in her new Citroen Saxo VTR. Charlotte is competing in the Junior Saloon Car Championship (JSCC) in 2017. A lot of progress was made during the day with driver coaching from Andy Johnson and support from the SVG Motor Sport team.
Early in the day while the weather was good Charlottes lap times consistently dropped as her confidence grew. The afternoon sessions saw rain and mist along with a drop in temperature and Charlotte demostrated a natural flair for driving in these conditions. Andy reported that Charlotte was a fast learner, quickly getting to grips with braking points and racing lines.
What a fantastic day today. Charlotte Birch was an absolute star right from the off, considering this was her first time in the car and the first time at Lydden Hill. She improved all day long an I can’t wait for the next test session. I’m certain we have a star in the making.
SVG Motor Sport have another Citroen Saxo ready for hire. Available for “arrive and drive” to suit any budget from one day tests to a full race season. Contact Andy Johnson on 01342 717282 for details.
SVG Motor Sport is now supporting Charlotte Birch in the Junior Saloon Car Championship (JSCC) in 2017 and would like to offer other aspiring young racers the opportunity to do the same!

SVG Motorsport is pleased to announce that they will be supporting Charlotte Birch in her Junior Saloon Car Championship 2017 (JSCC) campaign.
The Gatwick-based driver will use the rest of this year for testing and preparation for next season in her Citroen Saxo VTR decorated in SVG Motor Sport livery.
Proud of her new partnership with SVG Motor Sport, the young racer is excited about what the future has to hold and while her short-term ambition is to win the 2017 JSCC title, she plans on following on to the Michelin Ginetta GT5 Challenge series and who knows where it could lead… perhaps British GT! That is her ultimate ambition!
SVG Motorsport Managing Director, Andy Johnson, said “SVG was approached by Charlotte’s dad, Russell, so I took a good look at the Junior Saloon Car Championship (JSCC) and found I liked the series’ individual style and the idea of having young people competing in full blown race cars. I also felt that Charlotte had the fearless determination to succeed. I am really looking forward to seeing how Charlotte performs and grows within the SVG family for the remainder of 2016 and beyond”.
We expect big things from the young racer!
