What a year 2020 was, given the circumstances that have been going on throughout this period. Going from karts to cars is always a big step, it’s both challenging and a lot of experience needs to be acquired. Heading into the 2020 GT5 Challenge Championship, we were already on the back foot, as I had the absolute minimum amount of testing under my belt. But given those circumstances, the first weekend at Oulton park went surprisingly well. It started off, with a bit of a shocker, starting race 1 with a massive crash, which was completely out of my control, but we pushed through this and finished races 2 and 3 with a 9th and 7th place.

Round 2 was held at Oulton Park again, finishing with an outstanding P5, which was a mega achievement given it was my third race ever in a car. Race two was a bit of a new occurrence to me, as it was a severly wet race and I had almost no experience in the wet. Holding P5 for the early stages of the race, and lost the rear at turn 1 due to a puddle, given that I successfully managed to make my way back up to 9th place. Knockhill was a very fun weekend, and what a circuit it was. Qualifying hit us off with a bit of a rough start to the weekend as I didn’t manage to put a lap in during qualifying, meaning I was at the back for both races. However, it was extremely enjoyable going through the field from 18th to 8th for race 1 and 9th for race two. Positives were that I made sure I never messed up qualifying ever again.

Donington was an even stronger weekend and my learning curve up to this point was absolutely massive, race one was a bit of a tricky one as it was behind the safety car the whole race, and to be honest, no racing actually happened. Race two was what I thought was my best race of the year, Given I had the potential to finish 3rd and was right with the championship winner and runner up the whole race. And finally, race 3 was a waste a possible 4th or even higher. The outcomes of these problems are that I learn from my mistakes and make sure they don’t happen again. Both Silverstone weekends could have been a lot better, as I had the pace to bring home better results, and I wasn’t able to achieve what was expected of me. With the two races alongside the touring cars, having two terrible starts and, just a lack of experiment hindering us from achieving better results.

Anyway, I couldn’t have asked for a better year, I want to say a huge thank you to the whole SVG team, all my mechanics throughout the season, and especially Andy. He has made the transition into cars and an absolute piece of cake, he has helped me improve throughout the season and pushed me through the lows when I needed it. The team has delivered an outstanding car all year round and has given me the chance to get the best results of my ability, I have gained a huge amount of experience thanks to this team.
